Thank you very much Billy. Those vids and the rest of your videos are so fun to watch and along with the music I can't help smiling. It's always hard to explain freeriding with friends and how fun it can be, your videos are as good as it gets. I going back to watch more. thank you Billy.

I've started to venture into the New York countryside and found some pretty cool hills that may have never been ridden. Well from the looks on peoples faces it seems that way. Geneseo has a cool lil college with there own shuttle system and I scared a couple on day one. Ithica happens to be loaded with steep hills but there's all these college kids running around with there ideas and thinking and walking to class. I guess there's a freeride this weekend and hope to get back down there for some direction and beer pong and looting.

Dang, that's some wild sheet! That water has got to be right around 32F. I suspect that if a larger-than-expected piece had come unglued that things would have become very serious in a hurry.

Bo Bridges once lived in Vail, Colorado and I was stoked he came out to photograph me once speedboarding. Bo has moved on to great things and has been shooting action sports all over the planet. You owe it to yourself to check this out!!http://homepage.mac.com/ghydle/BoBridges/ from Bo...I just got back from one of the craziest, scariest, coolest photo shoots of my life. It is the first of its kind ever and hopefully the last. Basically giant pieces of ice would fall down from a 400 ft super active glacier (Child's Glacier) and create a tsunami wave. The surfers would wait for hours for one to fall and once that happened they would chase after it on their jetskis and try to catch it without getting killed by ice and rock debris. Check out a small sampling of images below as Garrett tows Kealii into a bomb. "I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I won't be going back. This is not a new sport." - Garrett McNamara after his trip to AK.

I've gotta get use to this first. I can still in 2009 just figure out how to check my mail and not "send all" porn. Mary was rad! Switzer won, but you new that. The temps are dropping fast as panties on prom night.About riding slalom boards and kicking butt on Mary??...The 3 guys I can think of who were rocking em, RIP on slalom set ups. Those guys train on those things and know just how to move em. I know Zak was able to hug the inside so hard he made the turn blush. Switzer's board from what I remember was pretty short also. Switzer also rocks a front foot hold. A slalom adaptation that resembles Skip Marcottes Pro Model from Subsonic.Gotta figure out how to post photos all over again. GO SKATE before it snows!

I'm still trying to figure this site out. I'm pretty computer stupid so it could be me but responding to posts has been a challenge. I don't want smilies, I want to answer questions and post photos. Is there something I missed? Adam, Can you splain things or is there a post I missed about these changes?

Rob,
I've been watching Patrick's amazing progress across the EU this summer, not just because he's a friend of mine, but because of his new deck design. I think him and Zak started riding some giant slalom boards at Maryhill to hold a tighter line in the corners, tracking instead of sliding.
I wondered, based upon you comments of "knowing your roots" below, if you view this as a new departure or is it a return to an older style of board and way of racing?
AND
Wish I knew you were at Penn State, I could have set up a visit to Camp Woodward. Let me know if you go back next summer.

Looked to me like he touched to let James know he was right there, but I think James lost his line without any push from Pat. You see Pat kind of put his hands up like "what the heck?" as he continues. Plus when they hugged afterwards James said he didn't think Pat pushed him. Thank you so much for announcing for us, the town is raving about you! Yes the event is going to be bigger next year, look for the addition of a slide competition among other things.

There's gnarly (sip) footage of the final on pdxdownhill.com and I stand corrected. Maybe Patrick didn't even touch James. Gotta go look at it again.

(sip) before I forget...Push race Legend Robin McGuirk (EastsideLongboards) won the Cross Island Race. Yes a cross island race, 7.5 miles across Puget Island. Michael Dong won the slalom in a great battle with Zak Maytum. This event will happen again and you will be pissed if you don't go to Cathlamet! Gnarly...

I had a great time announcing the event. This little town on the Columbia River let all of us shut down Main Street and race through town. Course is Gnarly (sip)!! Really pretty spot. The racing was VERY exciting. K-Rimes, Maytum, Switzer, Kelly, Morrow, and quite a few more fast big names. Some of the locals actually knew who these guys where and some on track betting took place. If I can remember the final...Kelly went into the off camber left outta the high speed chicane flat left with Patrick sweating him pretty hard. Both riders set their drift and Switzer hooked up boards with "the American dream" while putting his hand on James' back. Switzer pulled a sweet Canadian move and left James behind and in the hay. Patrick had nowhere else to go and James shouldn't have been in front of him. 500 dollars cash!! That came from Rip City SKates. Dave Mitchell crashed behind James while I'm pretty sure Casey also put it in the hay. James got up in time to still get 2nd and I forgot the rest. I still haven't got much sleep but I think Robin tangled with Kevin at Coffin Corner. Yes there was a funeral home at the last 90 degree left. Zak crashed in his semi final. The hill was gnarly (sip) I wanna say quick thanx to the Cathlamet town folk who came out to watch and helped Bill the Kid pull this off. Next year they really want to blow this thing up and wait til you guys see the course! Gnarly (sip) I probably got all the race info wrong but gotta run now. Thanx for reminding eerbody to wear lids and I will have to come back and type who to thank for this weekend. pdxdownhill.com peace

Grundy here and just want to say thanks for the kind words. The young people we met boarding in Alaska were tough! Had more scars than I do (had to ask if they were from fighting Bears or skateboarding) they were neat to listen to and fun. These boards are made to ride, don't just hang them on the wall, take em out and cruise - what's the sense in owning a Ferrari if you can't push it right!
Remember (as I said to Dave Dillburg that day at Signal Hill) - No Balls No Blue Chips, you don't make it to the bottom of the hill you collet No stamps.
little did we know how true that was.

I don't know what to think of the new generation of downhill riders who know the specs of every product out there and don't know the history of this sport. I've met so many "newbies" who know all this off the wall info about truck geometry and wheel duro's but couldn't tell ya who we owe so much to the design. I'm always stoked to talk with the history makers of our sport. The Roger's Bro's, Chris Chaput, Marcus Rietama, Cliff Coleman, Rick Kludy, Waldo Autry, Tony Alva and too many other folks who would blow any kids mind. You can't forget the past and to think most kids getting into bombing hills are more worried about what color griptape is the fastest or how to come up with a cool web name, there are living legends out there to remind us what this sport is really about. Quite an honor to have Guy post up here and to think some of us might have the time and money to go bomb hills in Alaska! Guy I only wish I could get to ASR and have you sign a deck that would never see the road. I hope anybody who can make to the show makes it a point to shake your hand and say thank you. Beastcoastlongboarding I hope to get down there for some of that Penn State action. I have the Cathlamet this weekend and then onto Maryhill to get my butt kicked by all those newbs with fast griptape and cool user names. Malakai's real name is Robert. Bearings don't win races. Sometimes you have to slow down to win. Helmets save lives. Don't hold up the shuttle. Thank every course worker you pass. Don't judge Jim Callahan. Turn off the computer and go skate!!!

Hey Rob! I just wanted to inform you of some small East Coast stuff going down in the next couple of months. On September 19th-20th weekend, Sean Graves and I are going to be hosting a little session just to get everyone together and have a good time. We're going to be meeting in Clearfield at Sean's house Saturday morning to ride the hills around there, and then we will be coming back to State College on Saturday night for a parking deck race. After the race we will pack up and go up into the mountains to camp and party. In the morning we will wake up and ride the mountain. If you want to come down for this, let me know. I will be going to Sean's in the morning from here on Saturday. You know you're welcome anytime.
Then on Halloween weekend in October we will be going to Harrisburg for the Second Annual Pennsyltuckey Derby. Its going to be a really great race to be at with a ton of awesome guys and really good competition. Give me a call if you need any information or anything. Hope the Roc is treating you well man. Ride on brotha.
